In addition, I have referred to the work of a typography artist, Coulson Macleod which is also a famous artist who is using simple and different type of font in the artwork.

Element of design analysis:
 1.      Line

potential for movement. Besides, I used diagonal line which strongly
suggest movement and give more of a feeling of vitality in my artwork.
2.      Shape
-Naturalistic shape, cloud in the second poster.
-Geometrics shape, moon, planet and tomato (circle), houses, window,
frame and clock (Square, rectangle, triangle).

  the three poster design.

-The alignment for first and second poster is asymmetrical while third
poster is symmetrical. Besides, the proportion for the three posters is
unequal which the arrangement is not equal.

-In the three posters, the eye movement will be focused on the astronaut
and human. The used of vivid color is also catching attention of the
 viewers.
Principle of design analysis:

Vincent Van Gogh

What is Post-Impressionism?
is the term coined by the British artist and art critic Roger Fry in 1910 to describe the development of French art since Manet. Fry used the term when he organized the 1910 exhibition Manet and Post-Impressionism. Post-Impressionists extended Impressionism while rejecting its limitations: they continued using vivid colors, thick application of paint, distinctive brush strokes, and real-life subject matter, but they were more inclined to emphasize geometric forms, to distort form for expressive effect, and to use unnatural or arbitrary color.

Vincent van Gogh, birth name Vincent Willem van Gogh (March 30, 1853 – July 29, 1890) was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter. His work are notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty and bold color.

Why is Vincent van Gogh?
Vincent van Gogh style of painting was to paint in blots of colourful paint. In his artwork, he wanted to shows that when the gradation colors are next to each other, it trick the eye in a sensation of movement. The reason i like his artwork because colourful paint can catch eye attention and bring out the sense of reality. His artwork is giving me the sense of i'm looking on a real moving graphic instead of a hand drawing artwork.

During his beginning years as an artist, his palette of color was muted and dark. After he moved to paris, his realize that his dark muddy palette of colors was hopelessly out of date and was undeniably replaced with a growing spectrum of Impressionist color. Soon,he adopted these Impressionist and Post Impressionist idea's and began painting with his own highly personal style.

The Potato Eaters, Vincent van Gogh first major work.

Starry Night
  • Famous artwork
  • Paint on real-life subject matter
  • depicts the view outside his sanitarium room window at night.

The Principles and Elements of design for Vincent van Gogh artwork.
    Principles
    1. Rhythm/repetition
-Rhythm is the repetition or alternation of elements, often with defined intervals between them. Rhythm can create a sense of movement, and can establish pattern and texture. For instance, Vincent van Gogh artwork are bring out the sense of movement by he paint it from dark to light color and the lines he makes are very thick.

    2. Unity/variety
-Unity is the underlying principle that summarizes all of the principles and elements of design. Consistency of form and color are also powerful tools that can pull a composition together. In Vincent van Gogh artwork, the use of color and shape makes the graphic looks unity. With just simple drawing by using shape and color, the graphic can have a powerful effect.

    3.Balance
    -Asymmetrical
-the houses and star is in different sizes

     Elements
    1. Shape
-can be divided into naturalistic shapes and geometric shape
    -naturalistic shapes,tree, cloud
-geometric shape, houses (square, rectangle, triangle), moon(circle)

    2.Color
    -has tremendous expressive qualities
-value is defined as the relative lightness or darkness of a color. (background and object)
-contrast of value separate objects in space. (house, church, tree, moon, cloud, star is separated from one another.
-gradation of value suggests mass and contour of a contiguous surface (paint gradation color)

    3.Line
    - from the painting, the artist use curve line to represent as cloud and use curve line to draw as a tree.
-the image looks natural when using curve line to draw out the image.
